…. this utterly dreamy garden … undoubtedly one of the great surviving early C18th gardens …. to me what makes it so magical is the contrast between the geometry and the softness. The woods are alive; thick with honeysuckle and woodpeckers …Perhaps the best time to visit is in June when the place is awash with orchids. Rapture!

Memories of a royal childhood in a beautiful 18th century house with original furnishings. The house dates from 1720, when the garden was also laid out. The Bowes Lyon family have lived here since then.. There is a notable collection of classical statues and temples.

All ages can enjoy the spectacular 50 acre garden, with long vistas leading to temples and statues, lake and ponds. The garden retains its original 18th century formal design, with more recent flower gardens. Wild flowers in abundance.

The garden will be open for charity through the National Garden Scheme, which supports Macmillan Nurses and other medical charities, on the following dates:
Sunday 28 April, 2pm-7pm
Sunday 19 May, 2pm-7pm
Sunday 30 June, 2pm-7pm
